The piece only works if the edit trusts space. The opening cannot oversignal. Otherwise the later acceleration has nothing to push against.
Editorial move
The structure narrows over time.
The sequence opens wide, then progressively tightens. That contrast lets the ending land with force and keeps the performance from flattening into one register.
